The performer with the voice laced with power, sensuality, and charm sings, and she loses herself completely in his song. What lies beneath the evening, though? What darkness lies in the hearts of those who spend their evenings with only a bartender for a friend?Warning: This horror story has very dark and disturbing images and adults should read carefully to determine if the content is appropriate for minors in their care. Here is a preview:Anna raises her glass and Dale walks right to her.“Four tonight Anna? What are we celebrating?”“Shut up, Dale, and get me another. Maybe I am celebrating something. What time is the band’s next set?”“Oh, they were just a fill in- the original band backed out last minute. The sax player’s a friend of mine so I called in a favor. They have a CD they will push when they pack up if you like’em.”Anna starts to speak, but a voice cuts her off. She irritably recognizes the voice. It’s from the same guy who had tried to hit on her only an hour ago.“Who in the fuck would want to buy that shit? Fuck my cat sings better and my ass makes better music than these assholes.”Ann slowly turns around to face the man, and he smiles at her attention.“Why don’t you do us all a favor and shut the hell up!”Dale laughs and the man turns and stomps back to his table. Anna smiles, gives Dale a wink and turns back to face the stage. She watches as the band packs up, once they finish they make their way up to the bar. The singer stands right next to her and orders a drink. Anna stares at him, and he gives her a wink.“So, come here often?”“Is the best line you can come up with?”“It’s not. But I imagine you’re the type who won’t be bought with a line anyway, so why bother trying. Fuck, I sound like an asshole. My name is Aiden”“Anna”Dale hands Aiden the drink while he sets Anna’s on a fresh napkin.“Anna is one of my favorite ladies who stop by. She knows what she wants and we take care of her. Great show man.”
